With street side cafés, high fashion boutiques and a variety of other stores, the centre has something for everybody. Anchored by a 135,000 sq foot Debenhams department store, it makes it an extremely attractive shopping destination. Whether you're looking for something special or are just after a browse and something to eat, you'll find it all at Midsummer Place. Dynamic brands such as Planet, Hugo Boss, H & M, Karen Millen, Gap and Office attract shoppers from miles around. Architecturally exciting, the £170 million development mixes the old with the new. Housing one of Milton Keynes' oldest residents – a majestic 150-year-old oak tree, which has been carefully preserved and takes pride of place at the heart of the centre. With 450,000 square feet, Midsummer Place also features a chill-out area for shoppers to take a break in comfort and style. Another attractive feature is the unique portrayal of Milton Keynes’ famous highway grid system, captured on a huge colourful stained glass window. This is displayed in the south wing and is by renowned stained glass artist Ann Smyth. Core opening hours will be 9.30am until 8pm Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 7pm on Saturday and 11am until 5pm on Sunday. Midsummer Place combined with the neighbouring Central Shopping Centre, provides one of the country's largest retail sites – covering 1.6 million square feet of shopping space. Transport has also been a major consideration, with Midsummer Place already sponsoring five buses across the town, creating extra routes. More than 130 security enhancing CCTV cameras, permanently manned on-site, and the introduction of a Shopmobility scheme, combine to make Midsummer Place a first-class shopping environment.
